Snow White, Soccer Players and Anniversaries

A busy weekend ...

We purchased some princess costumes for our little princess ...

Chatty's Godfather, Uncle Greg, came to town for a visit.  In between soccer games we had lunch with him and his family - always a fun time!

Speaking of soccer games, Chatty's team won the tournament on penalty kicks.  Chatty was the goalie and blocked all but one penalty kick!  Needless to say she is going to be a soccer player for Halloween.

And D and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary.  Chatty acted as our photographer (it took several shots but she finally got a decent one of us).

Playing Catch Up

As usual we have been keeping pretty busy ... below are some photos of what we have been up to.

Playing with our food

Wearing winter PJs even though it is still in the 90's

Riding Bikes

Celebrating Columbus Day
(Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria hat)

Play lots and lots and lots of soccer

Playing on the playground at sister's soccer games

Visiting with friends

As if that wasn't enough activity for one week, I flew to NJ for work last week too.  A nice bonus was the fact that I was able to have dinner with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt D and Cousin R.  I wish D and the girls could have joined us!  This week looks like it is going to be just as busy!  Whew!

Everyhing I need to Know I Learned in First Grade

To say that Chatty is learning a lot this year is an understatement.  First they learned about volcanoes, then rocks and now the body - bones and muscles.  She got to ride the bus home on Friday afternoon and when she got off she was wearing this:

Nice work.  She even had her brain detailed on a headband

In other exciting news this week, Chatty lost another tooth!  Someone joked she was going to need dentures soon.

Chatty's soccer team had the week off but she was asked to sub on our sister team with girls a year older than her.  She did awesome - she held her own and almost scored a goal!  She loves playing with the older girls.  It helps that she is as tall as most of them.

She did a great job dribbling past the other team

Getting directions from Coach K (who is her regular coach too)

After the game we went the every one's favorite pizza place to cool off (it was over 100 degrees at game time)!

Celebrations

This weekend we celebrated a couple things - first off - the start of Chatty's new soccer season. Her team had a scrimmage on Saturday night against a team with girls a year older than Chatty and her teammates. Chatty's team lost but they had fun and played hard. Chatty had the assist on the only goal scored by her team.

On Sunday she was asked to play up on another team from our league.  She held her own with the older girls!  D and I were very proud of her.

Yesterday D and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary.  The girls spent the night at Nana and Poppa's house so we had a nice quiet afternoon, evening and morning to ourselves!

A Little Change

I decided to change up the look of the blog with some new pictures and some new nicknames for the girls. As most of you know LAD is quite the talker, hence her nickname Chatty Cathy. SLD has been called Bia (Sophia Bia) since she was a baby so that's how we (I) came up with Sweet Bia. Don't let the name fool you, she is anything but sweet if she wants something and you won't give it to her!

Hope you are all having a good week. I think we are finally back into our routine after the holidays and the trip to Tampa. Next big event is a trip to Vegas (girls only - no kids!) for my Aunt Susan's big birthday bash next month! My friend Amy is going with me (it is her birthday too)! It should be lots of fun.

Chatty (aka LAD) starts the new season of soccer this Saturday. I am not looking forward to it as much as past seasons as most of our core team has left. She and a few other girls are the oldest on the team and will most likely dominate (as they did last season). We plan on switching to a different league next fall. We are even thinking we may switch sports .. not sure. I will try to post some pics this weekend or early next week! TGIF tomorrow! Gotta run - college football BCS title game on tv right now!

Soccer, Haircuts and Celebrations

Since I haven't posted much lately and haven't posted any pictures, I thought I would pile a a few into one post. We have been busy around here ... soccer games every Saturday ... refinishing furniture ... haircuts and visitors. The girls are having so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa!Striking a pose before her last week's game
L posing for a before picture of the dining set D and just refinished ...
No, D didn't take an after picture yet! Maybe the next post.

Playing outside ...

Everyone was enjoying the nice weather

My mom made cupcakes for an early birthday celebration for me.
The girls loved helping blow out the candles.

Chatty's Godfather

Chatty's Godfather, Uncle Greg, is in town from Austin. Unfortunately it is because his father passed away last weekend. It's been a difficult week for him but when he heard Chatty had a soccer game, he wanted to come see her play. She was so excited to play for Uncle Greg. He and I cheered her on (D was on the field coaching) - she played tough and ran hard, but alas no goals this week. We did get some cute pics of Uncle Greg and the girls ....

Mother of the Year

Saturday was L's second soccer game. She was pretty excited for it. Before the game we discussed how we have to follow through and not stop when we get close to the goal. During the first half I thought it was going to be a repeat of last week. She kicked it towards the goal but rather than following through (as we discussed all morning) and actually scoring the goal herself she let the defender get it and he (accidentally) kicked it in the goal. So she got an assist and credit for the actual goal. After the game she comes running over and says Mom "I scored a goal!" I looked at her and said "The one from the first half that went off the other team's player?" "No mom I scored another one and you weren't even paying attention!" I hate to admit it but she is right. I was chatting away with a couple of the other moms and watching S and completely missed her goal. To top it off neither D or I remembered to bring the camera so I have no photographic evidence. I guess I just lost my shot at the Mother of the Year award (again)!
